Lachlan is a very self motivated and dedicated young athlete. He has been a swimmer, runner and a lifesaver for a number of years, but has recently been introduced to triathlon.
In the past 8 months Lachlan has participated in 6 triathlons. In the first five triathlons in the local area of Tannum, Yeppoon and Emu Park, Lachy has placed in the top five in all events. In his most recent, the Queensland State Schools Triathlon Championships, Lachy placed 8th overall in his division and received a bronze in the team event. The 8th placing earning him a position as 2nd reserve, in the Queensland Team.
Lachlan trains to achieve his goals 6 days a week. He is up at 5.30am 4 mornings to ride 7kms and to swimming training for a 1/12 hour session. He follows this up with 2-3 afternoon sessions during the week. He has an hour running session each Tuesday afternoon and a skills/endurance bike session for an hour each Wednesday afternoon. He follows all the organised sessions up with 20-30km bike rides on his own and gym sessions at home.
He is also a school leader at Chanel College, and works hard in class, using his time wisely to achieve good grades and to complete as much as possible at school. He is a great role model to young people. He is also very humble in his achievements and resilient to his disappointments.
He will be using his prize money to assist with the purchase of equipment for his new found sport.
